RAISE A GLASS TO A JOB WELL RUN!
Old Brookville, NY, Nov. 2009 -- Kudos to Castello Banfi’s own Cristina Mariani-May, who on Sunday, November 1, successfully participated in the 2009 ING New York City Marathon. The youthful President of one of Italy’s premier wine estates and co-CEO of Banfi Vintners ran the 26-plus mile course leading through the five boroughs of New York in a very impressive 3 hours 33 minutes and 19 seconds.
“I had a blast! I felt fantastic…and my time was much better than expected so I am thrilled,” she reported on returning to the office the next day.
In fact, Cristina is convinced that being a mother of three young children is still the best way to stay in shape and an ideal preparation for training to run a marathon. Each morning, she makes a point of running a couple of miles before heading to her office in Old Brookville, Long Island.
Cristina ran in this year’s marathon for the benefit of The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a charity founded by the late actor Paul Newman. The charity provides a residential summer camp and year-round support for children and families coping with cancer and other serious illnesses
Upon her return home later on Sunday evening, Cristina’s family and friends were on hand to toast her success. Rest assured there was no shortage of Rosa Regale to celebrate with!
