Banfi Gives Back With participation in U.S. Marine Corps' Annual Toys For Tots Program

Old Brookville, NY; December 10, 2009 – In keeping with a well-established tradition, Banfi Vintners participated in the U.S. Marine Corps’ annual holiday season Toys-for-Tots program. Over a period of several weeks Banfi employees in Long Island and New York contributed new and unwrapped toys, collected in two large drop-off boxes in the reception area at Banfi’s headquarters at the company’s historic Old Brookville estate in Long Island, NY. This year’s collection established a record number of donations.

On Wednesday, December 10, two representatives from the U.S. Marines arrived to pick up the toys for distribution to children and teens in Nassau County, Long Island. Banfi management and staff were on hand to welcome Major Chuck Kilbride and Sgt. Brian Gonzales with a festive glass of Banfi’s Rosa Regale red sparkling wine, accompanied by platters of cookies, cakes and strawberries dipped in chocolate.

This year’s reception, however, took a surprise turn, with a brief formal presentation by the visiting Marines of a plaque to Bob Whiting, Director of Banfi’s Old Brookville estate, in acknowledgement of Bob’s long-time support for Toys-for-Tots. A proud former Marine, Bob was responsible for implementing the Toys-for-Tots collection at Banfi Vintners.
