WINES FIT FOR A KING!

Prince Charles The Prince of Wales

SANTIAGO, CHILE, MARCH 10, 2009 - VIÑEDOS EMILIANA, a leading Chilean wine estate dedicated to the production of sustainably farmed, organically grown and biodynamic wines, proudly hosted The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall on their first trip to Chile on Tuesday March 10, 2009. The trip was taken by the royal couple at the behest of the British Government to address key issues of environmental sustainability and climate change.

With the 2009 harvest, Emiliana becomes the world's single largest source of estate-bottled wines produced from sustainably farmed and organic grapes, making Emiliana a natural choice for the royal visit. Emiliana's General Manager, Rafael Guilisasti, personally received Their Royal Highnesses with his brother, José Guilisasti, the company's Agricultural Manager. The royal couple received a tour of the Emiliana winery which is set amid 1,500 acres of certified organic vineyards, followed by a tasting that included Emiliana's finest wines, among them Novas Sauvignon Blanc, the award-winning Coyam, and Chile's first ever certified biodynamic wine, the iconic red, G.

Subsequently, the royal couple met privately with Chile's leading organic producers to exchange views on the development and importance of organic agriculture in Chile and throughout the world. Producers participating in this open conversation included: Olave (olive oil), Greenvic (fresh fruit for export), Surfrut (dried fruits), Bioinvest (vegetables), Cambiaso Hermanos (organic herbal teas), Coesam (rose hip products), Index Salus (organic tea), and Hortifrut (berries).

"Their Royal Highnesses' visit today was of immense benefit and significance to all those among us who support organic agriculture and in turn, organic wines. The Prince of Wales has been a powerful advocate for environmental causes, including sustainable agriculture and organic farming, long before they acquired their present level of international recognition."

The U.S. represents the single largest market for Emilana wines worldwide, testifying to the nation's growing interest in organic wines. Emiliana's Natura line is now the #1 range of imported organic wines in the U.S. retailing for $10-$12, and #4 overall in the organic wine category.
