Concha y Toro Releases Two New Wines
Concha y Toro, Chile's leading winery, has just launched two new wines - Casillero del Diablo Carménère and Xplorador Malbec.

Originally known as Grande Vidure, the Carménère grape was once widely planted in Bordeaux, France but was destroyed by phylloxera nearly two centuries ago and never replanted there. The vine had been previously brought to Chile where it was, until recently, confused for Merlot.

Casillero Del Diablo Carménère is made from 90% Carménère grapes and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in the Rapel Valley. It has a deep crimson color and offers aromas of plum, chocolate and spice. The tannins are round but firm creating a well-balanced red. Along with the Carménère, the Casillero del Diablo line includes: Cabernet Sauvignon; Merlot; Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The wine retails for approximately $10 for 750ml bottle.

Xplorador's Malbec grapes are grown in the Lujan de Cuyo section of Agentina's Mendoza wine region. Originally from Bordeaux, the Malbec grapes thrive in Mendoza and produce luscious wines that are full of fruit flavor. Xplorador Malbec is bright ruby red and well-balanced yet, full of fruit and spicey aromas and flavors. The wine serves as a perfect accompaniment to a big, juicy steak. In addition to the Malbec, the Xplorador line of wines include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay. Xplorador retails for approximately $8 for 750ml bottle.

Concha y Toro is the best-selling imported line of wines in the United States. Along with the winery's popular Frontera, Casillero del Diablo and Xplorador lines, Concha y Toro also produces the famed premium Don Melchor Cabernet Sauvignon, deemed by many as the finest Cabernet Sauvignon made in Chile. Other Concha y Toro offerings include Amelia Chardonnay and the Marqués de Casa Concha line of wines. Concha y Toro owns more than 7,400 acres (3,000 hectares) of vineyards in twelve separate estates throughout four of Chile's premier winemaking regions; Maipo, Maule, Rapel and Casablanca.
