(Old Brookville, NY – August 2005) Ciao!, the new casual adult sparkling beverage from Italy, has launched a highly interactive website, SayCiao.com. The site offers visitors a virtual “taste” of the beverage and reflects the wine’s casual and fun style.
“Like Ciao! itself, SayCiao.com is for everyday celebrating and celebrating every day,” says Charles Dellavecchia, marketing director for Ciao!. “The website captures the wine’s unique personality and reflects its many moods.”

SayCiao.com visitors are greeted on the home page with succinct serving instructions for Ciao! - - “Simply Chill. And then . . .Chill!” - - and a pair of sensuous lips beckoning them to “Play.” As that invitation is accepted with a click, an audio splash page opens with the “whoosh” of Ciao!’scrown cap opening and an invitingly playful “Ciao, Baby!” A colorful graphic of the beverage morphs into a “bubbly crowd” dancing to a jazzy background tune.
The page then smoothly transitions to a “Get to Know Ciao!” tutorial that offers a glass of both Ciao! Rose and Ciao! Prosecco and invites the visitor to learn more about each by clicking on the glass. Each glass links to wine descriptions and introduces the theme: “Coming and Going Italians Say Ciao!, The First and Last Word in Prosecco or Rose”
The word “Ciao!” is echoed in a series of interactive pages. The “Say Ciao!” page features a composite of silhouettes, each of which, when crossed over by the mouse, says “Ciao!” with its own unique personality. Another page, “The Meaning ofCiao!,” provides the visitor with a playful “dictionary” definition and contains links to three additional interactive features: “Scene It” asks the visitor to submit a favorite movie scene that depicts a character saying “Ciao!.” Another page, “Moods,” provides an array of colors, each of which when clicked presents a scenario that captures one of the many moods of Ciao!, from a sultry vixen at a night club to a free-wheeling couple on a two-day romantic get away. Finally, “Lip Appeal” presents visitors with six head shots of attractive male and female models and asks them to vote for their favorite pair of lips. After voting, the page provides the current tally of votes.
In addition to communicating the “Ciao!” message, the site also asks visitors to share their favorite “Ciao! Moment” along with their name and e-mail address so they can receive updates, activities and news pertaining to Ciao!, though that information is not shared with outside marketers. A “ContactCiao!” page allows visitors to submit feedback either about “Ciao!” or its website as well as to opt into a mailing list by joining “The Ciao!Crowd.” The horizontal navigation bar at the foot of each page makes it easy to navigate the site and will from time to time play one of the voices saying Ciao!.
Ciao! has been launched in 5 US markets (Charlotte, Louisville/Newport, Atlanta, Buffalo, Corpus Christi/San Antonio) this summer by leading US importer Banfi Vintners, and will branch out nationally by the end of 2006. Both Ciao! wines will retail for $10.99 to $12.99 for a 750ml bottle.
