Walnut Crest Announces Product Improvements Best Values Get Even Better for 2004
Walnut Crest, one of America’s leading imported wines, has announced winemaking improvements resulting in greater concentration, complexity, and flavor, while maintaining the unique Walnut Crest style -- all at the same price.

Beginning with the 2002 vintage for Sauvignon Blanc and the 2003 vintage for the other six varietals, the wines will reflect a more discriminating selection of grapes based on varietal character and rich maturity.  Earlier harvesting and enhanced wine-making techniques make for a clean, refreshing Sauvignon Blanc without green or leafy flavors.  Moderate use of medium-toasted French oak barrique will be evident in Walnut Crest Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay, while flavor-intensive American oak barrels will support the more robust fruit and spice of the Shiraz.  The White Zinfandel has benefited from a new blend that creates a brighter, more fruit-forward style with a clean, crisp finish. The Italian Pinot Grigio will deliver more power and flavor due to the increased quality of the grapes and vinification that allows for a softer “mouthfeel.”

“For the consumer these improvements mean more value, taste, and pleasure,” said James W. Mariani, Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing, of Banfi Vintners, importers of Walnut Crest. “They demonstrate the winery’s commitment to excellence.”

Walnut Crest ranks as one of most popular imported wine brands in the United States.  The producer, Bodegas y Viñedos Santa Emiliana of Santiago, Chile, owns 3,500 acres of vineyards in Chile’s Maipo, Casablanca and Rapel valleys. All varietals are available in a range of convenient sizes: 750ml, 1.5L, 187ml, 3L & 5L and have attractive retail pricing, including $4.99 for the 750ml and $8.99 for the 1.5L.
