Chianti Classico 2005

Subtle, complex aromas. Upfront, gentle fruit with careful extraction and oak treatment. An honest example. Up to 3 years +.   * * *
- DECANTER (UK) - August 2007

"Lively black cherry ruby with black reflections. The bouquet is brambly, with lively acidity laced with vegetal notes and sour berry fruit. On the palate it's bright, with pleasant red berry fruit - sour cherry -supported by light slightly brambly tannins that lay a clean burr over the tongue, and flow into a clean bitter finish. It's graceful, in a smooth lacy key, with quite a bit more fruit than many, and will drink nicely with simple grilled meats or light stews; if you like the fairly traditional style you will enjoy it very much. Worth seeking out".
- Kyle Phillips - Italian Wine Review - 20 March 2007

Chianti Classico 2004

"Chianti often conjures up images of light, tart, fruity red wine, and in many cases this is true. But the sub-region of Chianti Classico can be different, and the 2004 Cecchi Chianti Classico is an example of this. A dark red wine, the Cecchi has rose petal, plum, and dark berry aromas. This medium body wine has a leathery edge to it, with a smoky/gamey touch and dark oak on the finish. Blackberry and plum flavors also show those leathery tannins, giving this wine the capability of improving over the next 3 years. Drink it now with meaty lasagna, grilled lamb, a New York Strip with blue cheese, and veal parmesan."
- Jarrett Osborn - The Vail Trail 25 April 2007

"Graceful red cherry fruit, iris and violet aroma with traces of oak showing through. Aeration helps open the aroma even more, and it then shows a racier, more floral note, with a rustic element. The taste is classically tart and lean. Great with pasta dishes. A superb example of what Chianti does best: make flavorful red wines at a fair price that go with food, and age nicely."   “Wine of the Week”
- Dan Berger - Dan Berger’s Vintage Experiences - 8 March 2007

"Reddish brick in color, with soft rounded scents of cocoa-laced fruit and cherry candies. It offers a smooth, rounded mouthfeel of dried red fruits and lingering cherry spice. Pour with a meaty red pasta sauce and fresh pasta."   86
- Wine Report (Atlanta, GA) - 1 March 2007

Chianti Classico 2003

“Subtle woodsy and black-cherry flavors are nicely balanced by zippy acidity in this bottle from Italy's most beloved wine region. A nice expression of the Sangiovese grape; think roast pork or shish kebabs.”
- Jerry Shriver - Cheers (USA TODAY) - 17 May 2006

Chianti Classico 2002

“True flavors of the Sangiovese grape lace through this slightly tannic yet supple wine. Black fruit and hints of coffee make this wine a particularly seductive choice.”
- Dick Rosano -Fra Noi - 1 June 2005

“Herbal and leafy, with aromatics of damp earth, cherry and leather. Snappy on the tongue, where apple skins and fresh red berries mix. Short on the finish, with mild tannins.”   85
- Wine Enthusiast - April 2005

“A simple Chianti, in the thin mode of Sangiovese, this tastes of black cherry skins with a fruit-tannin balance that lasts.  Pour it with steak.”
- Wine & Spirits - October 2004

“Medium bodied with bright black cherry; finishes with pleasing tart cherry and a hint of citrus.  Tomato-based pasta dishes.  Fully mature; serve now.”   Value
- Santé - September 2004

“Fine quality and value.  Round, moderately rich, full bodied and lightly oaked, with ripe plum and cherry fruitiness, with peppery, spicy overtones.  (2004-2006). ”   * * * *
- Ronn Weigand - Restaurant Wine - August 2004

"Great deal for solid traditional Chianti.  Not overpowering and it shouldn’t be; great food wine.  Ready to drink; will hold up for a couple of years."
- Bill Van Ollefen - Greenwich (CT) Times - 14 April 2004

Chianti Classico 2000

- Dick Rosano - FRA NOI January 2003

Chianti Classico 1999

"This is the fun version of Chianti Classico, soft and easy drinking, plus easy on the wallet. The soft berry fruit character, tinged with a bit of spice, makes it perfetto with pasta for pizza."
- Andrea Immer's Wine Buying Guide for Everyone

"Dark ruby shading to garnet. Enticing violet and wild strawberry aromas, with hints of sweet briar that are echoed on the palate. This lively midweight features moderate tannins and a smooth finish."   86

Chianti Classico 1998

"...has the lovely traditional earthy-cherry Chianti nose. There is the same cherry fruit on the palate along with slightly rough growling finish that I always like on inexpensive Chianti. Bring out the pizza."
- Malcolm Anderson - Southam, Inc. - March 2001

"Solid, authentic Chianti Classico at a very fair price."
- Michael Franz - Washington Post - March 2001

"This wine is more typical to the region: lighter fruit, lighter style. It's dry but has nice balance and a nice finish. A good buy..."
- Roger Rutan - Register-Guard (OR) - November 2000

"Sweet plums, tobacco and cedar, with a light floral bouquet. Full bodied, tart plums and cherries, with a strong grip of tannins; drying finish, with sweet fruits and clove."
- Santé - July/August 2000

"...aromas of violets and rich black cherry flavors."
- Kathy Martin - Miami Herald - May 2000

"A Chianti Classico is a wine made from grapes grown in the specially designated area of Tuscany called the Classico region. The Cecchi 1998 Chianti Classico draws from these grapes to produce a delightful and well-rounded wine. A brilliant deep garnet color heralds the aroma of dried plums and wild flowers with a hint of wild berries in the background. The flavor is round and powerful, accenting blackberries, plums and an earthy flavor that has become synonymous with Chianti. It is an excellent wine that goes perfectly with red meats, veal dishes and you guessed it, Italian foods of all types."
- Ben Bodenstein - On Wine! - April 2000

"...another good buy from Italy, with bright cherry and berry flavors, black pepper overtones and good structure."
- Laurie Daniel - San Jose Mercury News - April 2000

"...with its fresh, fragrant, appealing nature, its smoky black raspberry and currant flavors touched with smoke and minerals, vanilla and spice and its slightly creamy texture, is certainly worth a search..."
- Fredric Koeppel - Commercial Appeal - May 2000

Chianti Classico 1997

"...has a pungent aroma of black fruit and roses. It is full and rich on the palate and as harmonious as a Vivaldi concerto. The 1997 Cecchi Chianti Classico--which can be enjoyed now or allowed to age further--is an excellent example of the vintage's quality."
- John Foy - The Record (NJ) - September 2000

"This wine was my experts' unanimous favorite, a pleasant surprise at this price. 'It just has more going for it,' one expert said. Tobacco and dark fruit is prevalent in the aroma. In the mouth, it was rich, round and lush, with great cherry flavors. The velvety finish was the best part, though."
- Frank Sutherland - Star-Gazette - March 2000

"Scents of gunpowder and roses give this lean Chianti a hard mineral character at first, then it grows and takes on complexity with air."   87
- Wine & Spirits - April 2000
