Chianti 2005

"Aromas of oak and dried cherry pull you into this rich, vibrant wine. Smooth tannins and balanced acidity support a clean peppery palate of fresh black fruit, dark cherry and mulling spice before a warm finish. Serve with veal osso bucco and risotto".   88
- Wine Report (Atlanta, GA) - 1 March 2007

" …Striking colour of purple and cherry red hints at the herbal, dusty cherry, violet aromas to follow. Medium bodied with earthy, gamy and cherry flavours and firm acid and tannins on the finish. Definitely a keeper for your cellar. Grilled meats, roasts and other full flavoured meaty dishes have signed up to meet this one".
- Wilf Krutzmann - Monday Magazine - 28 February 2007

Chianti 2001

“This is a well-priced Chianti; it’s delicious with red sauces and spaghetti and probably wouldn’t be too bad with deep-dish pizza covered with pepperoni and sausage.”
- Jeff Siegel - Fort Worth Star-Telegram (TX) - 22 October 2003

“. . .a splendid Classico producer, made an outstanding wine in 2001, fresh and lively enough to stand up to pepperoni.”
- Michael Apstein - The Boston Globe - 8 October 2003

"Has quite a dusty earthy cherry nose and flavours. There is an additional sour cherry and cedar bark flavour that runs through the mid-palate before it finishes dry and light. Order the pizza before you pull the cork. Light, dry, pizza red."   13/20
- Anthony Gismondi - VANCOUVER (BC) SUN

"Deep garnet with a beautiful aroma of cherry, clove, tar and cedar. Medium-full with very good concentration. Rich, round finish that displays very good complexity and length. There is a touch of earthiness in the finish along with lively acidity. Drink now or over the next 12-18 months. Very good value."   ***

Chianti 2000

"Cecchi produces a range of Tuscan wines from his prestigious Chianti Classico Riserva to this simple, yet eminently enjoyable, Chianti. The grapes come from anywhere in the region, not just the more prestigious Classico subzone, which explains its price. Talented selection and winemaking explains its appeal. It is a wonderful everyday wine."
- Michael Apstein - THE BOSTON GLOBE 6 March 2003

"The 2000 Cecchi Chianti blends Tuscany's principal grape, Sangiovese, with the indigenous grapes Canaiolo Nero, Trebbiano, and Malvasia. The result is a pleasant cherry-like aroma and flavor with a delicate texture on the palate. Ideal with grilled poultry, fish, and vegetables, the Cecchi 2000 Chianti is priced right and sits in the winner's circle..."
- John Foy - The Record - May 2002

Chianti 1999

"Year after year, it is delightful and inexpensive, which makes it an ideal everyday wine. Think of it as bottled Tuscan sunshine."
- Michael Apstein - Boston Globe - March 2001

"There is plenty of Tuscan sunshine in Cecchi Chianti '99 as well as ample tart cherry, plum, spice and vanilla flavors."
- Robert Neralich - Arkansas Democrat Gazette - March 2001

"Rich, well-structured, dry, fruity red Italian wine with enough robustness to stand up to the heartiest cuisine..."
- Anne Martino - Ann Arbor News - February 2001

"Made from a traditional, authentic blend of Chianti grape varieties... Ruby-red colour. Delicate bouquet of sweet violets with an earthy-mineral tone I find extremely comforting."
- Lynn Krielow Chamberlain Sun Journal (NC) - January 2001

"This quaffable wine has a lively ruby red color. For the price it has a surprisingly intense bouquet hinting of violets. It is a generally balanced wine... Good value Chianti."
- Bill Van Ollefen - Advocate (CT) - January 2001

Chianti 1998

"Sweet, floral essence, with interesting aromas of leather, wet mulch and tobacco. A great balance of fruit, understated tannins and acid; drying finish, with subtle spice."
- Santé - July/August 2000

"This wine exemplifies what makes good Chianti special. Very dry, in fact almost tart, Cecchi's 1998 Chianti is medium-bodied with quite dusty tannins. It seems nondescript until it's paired with food. Then, especially if the food is not too delicate, it opens up and displays all sorts of subtle nuances--a violet-tinged perfume followed by cherry flavors coupled with hints of anise, cocoa and woodsy spice. If you drink red wine as a cocktail beverage, this Chianti probably will prove disappointing. If, though, you drink red wine primarily with meals, it is a delicious bargain, well worth buying by the case."
- Washington Times (DC) - March 2000

"This is the basic Chianti, made in the centuries old style with the traditional blend of four native Tuscan grapes. This wine has a soft and smooth flavor without any harshness or rough edges. It is a modern and well made version of the age old Chianti, resplendent with an intense berry and plum aroma and flavor and a fresh, clean finish. The Cecchi 1998 Chianti is very much like an updated version of the Chiantis of years gone by and all that seems to be missing is the straw wrapping around the bottle. For the price, this wine is a terrific buy."
- Ben Bodenstein - On Wine! - April 2000

"Smoked meat, dark chocolate and black raspberry aromas and flavors; great length."
- Santé June 2000
