Argentina

Viña Concha y Toro founded Argentine winery Trivento Bodegas y Viñedos S.A. in 1996 to make exceptional wines for local and foreign markets. Chosen principally for its soil and climate, Mendoza also offers the almost unique opportunity of "high-altitude viticulture." Large swings in temperature, sun-bathed days and fresh nights in the semi arid climate reduce the risk of pests and disease in the vineyards ensuring the healthiest of harvests. The vineyards receive barely 8 inches of rainfall a year so the drip irrigation systems deliver melting waters channelled down from the Andes. Stony soils drain off excess water and maintain vineyard growth and yield in balance.
